In Persia, varieties of naan, feta cheese, butter (kareh), a variety of traditional marmalades (morabba) or jams, honey (angebin or asal), cream (sar sheer (سرشیر)) and hot tea are essential breakfast foods.

Other foods, such as walnuts, hard and soft boiled eggs, and omelettes are also popular for breakfast.

A choice of butter and cheese, butter and marmalade, heavy cream and honey, butter and honey, or cheese and walnuts are rubbed on fresh bread and folded into small sandwiches and are consumed with hot tea.
